IOWG International Symposium 2016

In response to the theme “Smarter Hong Kong, Smarter Living” set in the Digital 21 strategy by HK Gov, HKPKIF worked together with Smart City Consortium (SCC), Asia Public Key Infrastructure Consortium (APKIC), The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) Smart City Industrial Committee and Lingnan University to hold the International Symposium themed Smart City & Smart Identity under Belt & Road Initiative: Innovative Progress in PKI and Authentication to promote the industrial upgrading, the development of HK as Smart City on 7 July 2016 and had attracted industrial leader, experts from HK, Taiwan, Macao, India, Japan, Korea and Thailand to share their valuable thoughts and cooperation proposals.

 

HKPKIF has been designated to enhancing cyber security to offer protection for smart life. Chairman of the newly founded Smart City Industrial Committee under CMA, Ms. Eva Chan pointed out that the founding of the committee is to boost the efficiency of producing, living and managing of a Smart City and to leverage on new technologies to drive social and economic development. She continued that in promoting Hong Kong as a Smart City, the strength from all industries of the society should be integrated and coordinated including information, design, manufacturing, finance, environment protection, testing, certification and consulting, which is a heavy task. However, she deemed it was a development opportunity which can bring business opportunities for middle and small-sized enterprises that all industries should seize.
