Hong Kong Public Key Infrastructure Forum (HKPKIF) have a new Honorary Adviser from January 2024

We are honoured to announce that an influential member will join Hong Kong Public Key Infrastructure Forum (HKPKIF) Advisory Board. Mr. Victor Lam Wai-Kiu, S.B.S., J.P., former Government Chief Information Officer of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, will undertake as Honorary Adviser of the Hong Kong Public Key Infrastructure Forum (HKPKIF) from January 2024 to December 2026. We will work together to promote the development of Information Technology in Hong Kong or International to furtherance a safe network environment and give impetus to make cross-boarder trading convenience between Hong Kong and China or neighbouring countries.

Mr. Victor Lam Wai-kiu, S.B.S., J.P., former Government Chief Information Officer of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, undertakes as the Honorary Adviser of the Hong Kong Public Key Infrastructure Forum (HKPKIF)

Mr. Victor Lam majored in Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong. He joined the Government of Hong Kong Special Administration Region as an Analyst/Programmer in August 1985 immediately after graduation. As a professional in IT, Mr. Lam has provided IT services for various government departments including the Housing Department, the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, the former Trade Department and the former Information Technology Department. He was appointed as the Government Chief Information Officer in 2018 and is responsible for promoting the development of information and communications technology, smart cities, and e-government in Hong Kong.

During Mr. Lam’s tenure as the Government Chief Information Officer, Mr. Lam has made many valuable contributions, particularly in mapping out the "Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint" and providing IT support in government's anti-epidemic policies and measures. He supports the development of PKI technologies to build up a digital standard to fulfil and facilitate interoperability and collaboration among Hong Kong, Beijing and Guangdong provinces. In 2023, Mr. Lam was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (S.B.S.) for his outstanding contributions and dedication to Hong Kong society and government.

Being the Honorary Adviser of HKPKIF, Mr. Lam will work closely with HKPKIF, providing strategic guidance and professional advice. He will leverage his extensive network and resources to broaden HKPKIF's influence in the information technology field in Hong Kong and the Greater China region. In addition, he will assist us to establish closer collaborative relationships and cooperation between local and international technology leading companies.

We believe the joining of Mr. Lam will be able to excavate the IT potential and capacity in Hong Kong, Greater China and globally which will benefit and provide support to enterprises and entrepreneurs.

Hong Kong has always been a significant international financial and business centre and one of the leading innovation technology centre in the Asia-Pacific region. We are looking forward to working together with Mr. Lam to work on the IT innovation development and the promotion on the interoperability between Hong Kong and Greater China. We hope to be proficiency in innovation and have more development and collaboration opportunities in the region.
